Ms. Mickey Stephens deLaup is the manager of the deLaup Law Firm (Mickey S. deLaup, APLC), a firm with 7 attorneys involved in general litigation including defense of personal injury, public entity, construction and insurance defense matters.  Born in Monroe, Louisiana, she graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 1978 and Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law School in 1981.  She has spent the last 38 years practicing insurance defense, public entity defense, product liability defense and coverage litigation. The firm practices throughout the state of Louisiana for several clients.

Ms. deLaup is an AV rated attorney with experience in Louisiana state and federal courts at trial and at the appellate level in insurance and civil litigation matters for various insurers, corporations and individuals.  She is a mediator and has participated in 100s of mediations as a participant and mediator.  She has handled all manner of cases including claims alleging brain injury, paralysis, defamation, construction defect, automobile and other product liability, general negligence, federal civil rights violations, etc.

She recently (2018-2019) served as President of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, one of the largest defense counsel associations in the United States. She has been elected and appointed to various positions in the Louisiana State Bar including serving on the Board of Governors and in the House of Delegates.  She is a past President of the Jefferson Bar Association (2016) an organization of practicing judges and lawyers located in Jefferson Parish in the greater New Orleans Metropolitan area.

She has been an assistant examiner for both Torts and Federal Jurisprudence and Procedure and was the examiner for torts from 2009 to February 2012.

Ms. deLaup has spoken at various seminars concerning topics ranging from the defense of automobile accident and fraud cases, public entity defense, summary  judgment practice, professionalism issues, insurance coverage and litigation issues, and uninsured motorist law.

Ms. deLaup has been named to the exclusive Super Lawyers list as one of the top attorneys in Louisiana for the past several years.  She is also listed in the Martindale – Hubbell Bar Registry of Pre-eminent Women Attorneys. In addition, she has been recognized as one of the Top Lawyers in the New Orleans area in the areas of insurance, litigation and product liability defense.  Ms. deLaup has been selected by ALM Media and Martindale-Hubbell™ 2019  as a Top Rated Lawyer in Insurance Law. This recognition will run will run in Corporate Counsel & The American Lawyer magazines in 2019. She is listed in Who’s Who In America and was recognized as a leader in the legal profession by City Business as one of those chosen for Leadership in Law in 2014.
